A final meeting was held on the official closing of the project „Identification of necessary steps in the process of establishing а carcass classification system in accordance with EU requirements“

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia organized on November 14, 2017, official closing of Twinning light project „Identification of necessary steps in the process of establishing а carcass classification system in accordance with EU requirements“, in Palace "Serbia".
At the meeting took part representatives of The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, representatives of relevant ministries, representative of Danish Embassy, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The project, which is financed from EU funds with the co-financing of the Republic of Serbia, was implemented by Danish Meat Research Institute in cooperation with the Danish Classification Inspection. On this event are presented activities carried out during the project implementation, as well as the proposal of the activities after the completion of the project.

During the project implementation were visited the slaughterhouses that produce for the domestic market, as well as facilities with export licenses to the EU, a comparison of domestic and EU legislation in this area was made, an overview of the entire slaughterhouse sector of the Republic of Serbia was made in relation to the capacity and number of slaughtering, and a questionnaire which was sent to slaughterhouses and analysis of response. A proposal of future activities in the process of establishing of classification system has also been prepared.
The workshops were held with the with the aim of informing of stakeholders with tasks related to the classification of carcases, as well as identifying the necessary steps for the system establishing in the Republic of Serbia
The main objective of this project was to provide support to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia in establishing a harmonized system of Common Market Organization of agricultural products, in the field of carcass classification, which is one of the strategic objectives of the EU accession process.
